Empire Ups The Ante On Hiroki Kuroda

UPDATE: MLB.com's Bryan Hoch says Yankees have not offered Kuroda a contract
If the Red Sox really are serious about signing Dodger right-hander Hiroki Kuroda for their rotation, they now have a competitor for his services. The Evil Ones have reportedly offered Kuroda's agent a one-year, $12 million contract to pitch at The Concrete Bunker On 161st Street. Kuroda would be a nice number four behind Beckett, Lester and Buchholz. This could also ease the transition of Daniel Bard into the less pressured number five spot. Kuroda would, of course, have to give up his #18 (Dice-K has it), which is considered a lucky number in Japan.
