The Globe's Nick Cafardo has "tweeted" that
the Red Sox have "kicked the tires" on free agent outfielder Michael Cuddyer. The 32-year old right-handed hitter has compiled a .272 average over 11 seasons. He's had as many as 32 home runs in a year (2009) and has
a career on-base percentage of .343. We've always liked Cuddyer, but, frankly, aren't we essentially talking about another J.D. Drew production-wise (14 years/.278 avg./.384 OBP)? Actually, to paraphrase new Baltimore GM Dan Duquette, Cuddyer wouldn't even 'replace' Drew's 'on-base potential'.
