Justin Verlander was unanimously named the 2011 AL Cy Young winner today by the Baseball Writers Association of America. Red Sox starter Josh Beckett, who had great number most of the year, finished in ninth place with just three fifth-place votes. Despite the epic September collapse of Red Sox starters, Beckett still finished with a 2.89 ERA, 13 wins, and yielded just 146 hits in 193 innings. He also had a 1.026 WHIP.
