The Editors of FenwayNation have named Jacoby Ellsbury as their 2011 Player Of The Year.
The Red Sox center fielder bounced back from an injury-riddled 2010 and posted team-leading numbers in home runs (32), stolen bases (39), and runs (119). He was also just one behind team-leader Adrian Gonzalez in hits and doubles. Ellsbury's outstanding year puts him in serious contention for the American League Most Valuable Player Award.
Ellsbury joins David Ortiz (2003, 2004, 2005, 2006), Mike Lowell (2007), Dustin Pedroia (2008), Jason Bay (2009) and Clay Buchholz (2010) as FN Player Of The Year recipients.
Congratulations, Jacoby!
