With a fan angst level higher than Chad Bono's cholesterol, the Red Sox and Josh Beckett need to bring it tonight. Not to put too much pressure on the guys, but....DO IT!
Beckett is the perfect guy to spearhead this effort—he is gutsy, nasty and dominant at his best. The question is: Is he at his best with the cranky ankle? In any event, the Red Sox need to take their cue from Josh.
Tonight's Ray starter James Shields has become an elite pitcher once again—tallying 12 complete games this year (compared with only three on the entire Red Sox staff). However, as good as he is, he has a history of problems at Fenway.
The stars are aligned. The Carmine Hose need to 'bend it like Beckett' and score early and often.
