According to ESPN's Jayson Stark, it is likelier than ever that the pathetic Houston Astros will soon reside in the American League West. Stark writes:
"Sources say MLB officials summoned prospective Astros owner Jim Crane to a meeting recently, for the specific purpose of strongly "encouraging" him to allow them to move the Astros franchise to the American League."
This is good news for the other 14 AL clubs—including the Red Sox—who can feast on the "Lastros" to beef up their regular season records. It's also good for the sport overall, since the move would require the re-alignment of MLB into two 15-team leagues (six divisions of five teams). Of course, it also would require inter-league games every day of the year. It's a big price to pay, but the end result is best for baseball.
